Claim to fame: Drawing on his own experience as a teacher, Gabe Kaplan, a stand-up comedian and writer created and starred in the hit comedy sitcom Welcome Back Kotter which ran from 1975 to 1979.

Where are they now? Kaplan went on to become a world champion poker player and financial investor, finishing 3rd in the World Poker Tour Event in Las Vegas in 2005 and providing commentary for ESPN's World Series of Poker

Aside from various television cameos, Kaplan also commenced work on a musical version of Welcome Back Kotter in 1998.

I was growing up when I watched the show, "Sweathogs" which was hilarious! A lot of the people in that show didn't find fame but John Travolta sure did.
