Claim to fame: Jody Watley began her carreer as a professional dancer on Soul Train. In 1987 she released her debut self-titled album which was very successful.
Her second album Larger than Life was also a big hit.

Where are they now? She married, had two children, divorced, and released 3 commercially unsuccessful albums.
In 1995 she played Rizzo in the broadway production of Grease to rave reviews.

Destiny's Child recorded her single Sweet Sixteen in 1999.

She is back to recording her own brand of R&B.

Though she did start as a dancer on Soul Train, she was a singer in the disco/R&B group Shalamar (with Howard Hewitt and fellow Soul Train dancer, Jeffrey Daniel) before going solo. Shalamar had a number of hits.
