He is currently basking in the glory of war. It is a miracle this man is in the limelight at all, he was widely regarded as "politically dead", without any serious political potential.
Alas, since GWB failed in creating any bilateral support from among the mainstream players, he had to resort to the neo-conservative loons from the far-right "thinktanks" to implement his agenda, hence we have people like Rumsfield running the show.
