Harold Faltermeyer's claim to fame
The guy who did Axel F. Harold Faltermeyer was Giorgio Moroder's in-house studio programmer during the 70's "disco" phase. Cleverly invested his earnings into the legendary "fairlight" sampling system, and went into soundtrack work. Was heavily involved in American Gigalo (1980) but remained uncredited. Massive smash success with Axel F single, which is the "theme" from Beverly Hills Cop (1984). Also responsible for Fletch (1985) and Beverly Hills Cop II (1987), The Running Man (1987) and the vomit-inducingly rubbish Tango and Cash (1989). Where are they now?
In 1990, he produced Pet Shop Boys album Behaviour , which
sounds better now than it did then.
Still scoring film soundtracks, even if they mainly tend to be TVM or
even german (he is german , so nice and easy does it I guess..)
His slightly "vitamin induced" overactive boffin performance on british
show Top Of The Pops , still raises a smile to this day.. Related Media
