Idi Amin's claim to fame
Idi Amin ruled Uganda with an Iron Fist from 1971 to 1979 and is held responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Ugandans. Where are they now?
In 1979 Tanzinian troops invaded Uganda and
Idi Amin fled the country. He was rumoured to
be "living comfortably" in exile in Saudi Arabia.
In 1998 he had his wings clipped by his Saudi
Hosts, being exiled to Jeddah after he was caught
organising a shipment of arms to Uganda.
