After the show ended in 1984, she traveled the world and eventually ended up settling in New Mexico surviving on the money she made from the show.

Joyce DeWitt took time off screen between 1978 to 1993 and then appeared in various sitcoms and a T.V. production. The most interesting appearance she has made has been on a Canadian sitcom called Twitch City. In this sitcome she plays herself, and the episode was called I Look Like Joyce DeWitt.

She recently finished a movie Eighteen, and plans to act in a few more movies.
