Michael Schoeffling's claim to fame
In only his second film, Schoeffling was cemented in teen movie history as hunky Jake Ryan, the object of Samantha Baker (Molly Ringwald)'s affection in Sixteen Candles. Where are they now?
After the movie's huge success, he was unable to duplicate his success in films for the rest of the '80s (despite appearing the camp classic Vision Quest which made Matthew Modine a star). By 1991, he quit acting.
A 2004 Washington Post article revealed that Schoeffling is living in Newfoundland, Pennsylvania with his wife,former model Valerie Robinson, and their teenage kids. He produces handmade furniture and reportedly has a store.
