Sinead O'Connor's claim to fame
Irish singer among her hits were Nothing Compares 2 U (which was penned by Prince). Always controversial, she defended the IRA attacked compatriots U2, pissed off Frank Sinatra, declared herself to be a lesbian, and tore up a picture of the Pope on Saturday Night Live. Where are they now?
She secretly married journalist Nick Sommerland in 2001.
In 2003 she announced her departure from the spotlight stating "she no longer wanted to be regarded as a famous person.".
In March, 2004 she gave birth to a baby boy in Dublin, Ireland. Her third child.
Her official website at sineadoconnor.com simply states "Thank you for your interest, but Sinéad's site is currently closed."
Update: November 2004:
In between 2000 and now also became a priest in a breakaway
group of the Catholic church in Ireland. She wore a Roman collar and styled
herself Mother Bernadette. More recently 2004, took out a full page
advert in an Irish daily paper asking why she is seen as a figure of
ridicule.
