Vince was always an enterprising go-getter. Firstly, he was one of the founding members of Depeche Mode. After finding it too stressful to have fun and write songs at the same time, he left at the end of 1981, and formed Yazoo (OR Yaz in the U.S.A.) soon after with Alison Moyet. Personality clashes couldn't be hidden under the hitstream they generated any longer, so they parted ways at the end of 1983.

Vince had a bit of a "solo" period with projects such as The Assembly never really taking off (One single, Never, Never was released, and charted, the other didn't). However, in 1985, he saw sense again and teamed up with unknown peterborough singer Andy Bell to form Erasure...and he's been there ever since.

Erasure have been gradually declining in terms of quality of output and "pop steam" since 2000's Loveboat album, which was a total "own goal" and virtually unlistenable. A covers album was released last year called Other People's Songs, which was also "lukewarm" to say the least. New album appearing in January 2005 , which may redeem them, although I wouldn't count on it.

Vince has also made "noises" about scoring a soundtrack for a film..Let's see what happens eh?
