Where are they now? Although long-time lead singer JT Taylor left the band in 1999, four of the seven original members continue to perform around the world.
Artists such as Will Smith and Missy Elliott have incorporated Kool & The Gang's sounds into their own work keeping their works alive.

The group has started experimenting with a new hip hop sound. The released an album Gangland which contained original hits such as "Cherish", but with rap, funk and guitar added in.

Kool & The Gang also released Odyssey in 2004. It featured a number of guest stars, including Jamiroquai and Bryan Adams .
