One Hit Wonders

What constitutes a "One Hit Wonder" ? Many of the artists listed here had more than one "hit", in the technical sense. Many of the "hits" listed never actually hit #1 in any country but they did quite well.

My rule of thumb is this: I posit that if I were to randomly poll 100 people with the artist or band's name and I reasonably feel that all of them would come back with the same song, it's a One Hit Wonder.

There is nothing wrong with being a One Hit Wonder, there is no moral judgement here, it's just an observation. Personally I feel like "everybody should have at least one hit in their lifetime". Even if its a minor one in their own local area, school whatever.

You never know who will be back for a #2 or even more. My wife is fond of pointing out to me that I once pegged Destiny's Child as a One Hit Wonder for Bugaboo, and European and Australian readers constantly remind me that Kylie Minogue has had something on the order of 12 back-to-back #1 hits in the U.K over the last decade.
